Maurice Johnson, founder of El Hefe Records, was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where his love for music was shaped by real-life struggle and perseverance. Educated in the public school system and tested by more than a few bumps in the road, he never lost sight of his vision: to one day make a meaningful impact on the entertainment industry.
Determined to understand the business from the inside out, Maurice immersed himself in the study of music, branding, and artist development—learning the strategies, structures, and discipline that turn raw talent into lasting careers. That combination of knowledge, lived experience, and unwavering passion led him to create El Hefe Records, a label built on the belief that artists deserve innovative, honest, and empowering ways to share their music with the world.
